1. So this happened on Monday.
For those of you keeping score at home…
We’ve now had snow for over five full months. I’ll just leave that right there.
2. I don’t know if anyone else has this problem, but I have a serious struggle with art. As in, I see anything that could in any way be classified as art (writing, music, design, dance, etc. — basically anything that is not blatantly math or science) and think, “I could totally do that! How hard could it be?”
My latest struggle has been with web design. You’d think this would be a relatively straightforward sort of thing, right? There are millions of websites all over the Internet! I spend probably 10 hours a day online, when it’s all said and done — I’ll just know intuitively how to put together an awesome website. AND, I’ve totally heard of HTML and know that it uses those greater than/less than signs. I’ve even used HTML to use bold and italicized text on blog comments before. I’ve totally got this!
I totally do not got this.
I am slowly (oh, oh so slowly) attempting to teach myself how to code using various free online resources (Codecademy has been a great help, as is Dreamweaver’s Help site), and I think the primary thing I’ve learned thus far is that I know freaking nothing about creating websites. But hopefully with diligence (read: less time on BuzzFeed, more time learning) that will change.
3. Easter is on Sunday HOORAY!! I love Easter and am so excited for Sunday to finally get here. I’m also excited to start baking again.
Mmm. Chocolate chip banana muffins (among many other things) are in my future 😀
Have you ever tried something thinking it would be a breeze only to find out it involved a lot more work than you originally thought?
Plans for Easter?
We got snow on Tuesday. This is just not okay. I thought I moved south to get away from the belabored winters. At least when I’m living in New England I know better than to think spring is coming. Sigh. I LOVE EASTER and I’m super excited that I’ll be home this year since I’m 22 years old and I still get an Easter basket. The little things 😉
Haha, yeah, I think if I lived in Maryland I’d be even more annoyed by late season snow. Have a great time at home and safe travels!
I’m actually taking a class this quarter on WordPress. And while the first few weeks have been mind-numbingly boring (let’s talk about the syllabus. Let’s walk though how to install WordPress) I am looking forward to learning more about the technical aspects of themes, etc. Because, yeah, I totally thought I had that. I totally do not, either.
Oh, very cool! I bet you’re going to learn a lot. I’d love to take an actual class on this kind of thing…but free is better than not free, soooo the Internet it is! Haha.
Mmm running haha. When Joe first made me go with him, I thought, “how hard can this be?” Apparently I blocked out my high school mile efforts because it was so much freaking harder than I ever imagined….and it still is. But I couldn’t picture my life without it. I was talking to my mum before, and we were talking about stress, and her exact words were, “Put it into your running. Don’t go run something crazy, like from Pittsburgh to Grove City (where my fam lives), but put that stress into your running.” She knows me well but has never said that one before now haha
I love this! I guess I actually kind of got into running from the same mindset. I read a lot about people who ran marathons, so I was all, “A 5K should be easy if random grown ups can run marathons!” Haha. Which, I guess, it kind of is, unless you actually run it hard, in which case, I’ll take the marathon, thanks 😛
Haha old bananas are one of life’s little treasures. They look like they’re worthless but they make the BEST baked goods 🙂 Something I thought was easy? Karaoke. That takes COURAGE (……liquid courage….)
Right? Love baking with old bananas. I’m definitely not brave enough to take on karaoke…haha.
