Another round of Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp is in the books!
This week started out busy busy busy for me with three long hip hop rehearsals (plus one breakdance rehearsal, plus graduation for both) instead of my usual one. One and half hours on Sunday, one hour on Monday, and another hour and a half on Tuesday made for A LOT of cardio and definitely counted as all of my cardio workouts for the week. It’s crazy how wiped a four minute routine can leave you, especially when you run it again and again and again. One of my classmates compared it to doing HIIT for an hour and a half, and I really think for the most part that’s pretty accurate. I try to go all out when I’m dancing (though “all out” at the beginning and end of rehearsal look like two VERY different things!), so while I may not have the recovery interval–unless you count standing around sweating as “recovery”–it does feel a lot like interval training.
Now that hip hop and breakdance are over (…for all of a week. Haha), I had more time to focus on strength training this week. I did sneak in a little bit of Monday’s strength workout after hip hop but kept it to two rounds since goodness knows I had already had my fill of cardio for the day. Wednesday and Friday’s workouts went really well, though. To be honest, I’m not feeling a whole lot stronger than I felt at the beginning of boot camp, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I’ve been limiting myself in the weight department. Instead of using the free weights in my building’s gym, I’ve always opted to use my own weights in my apartment, which means I’ve never gone higher than 10 lbs, even though I imagine I’m capable of lifting more. That’s definitely something I want to work on in the future!
Overall, I really enjoyed participating in boot camp again and highly recommend signing up when registration opens for Round 5 on March 4. It’s a program with incredible value, both from a money and health standpoint, and I’ve really gotten a lot out of it. Round 5 will probably be my last round until after the marathon, but I’m already looking forward to getting in some new workouts!
Mmm, I may just have to register for the next round of BBBC…I think strength training would be a good thing to incorporate, but I’ll have to see what my schedule and finances look like…plus I don’t have gym access, so I’ll have to see what I’ll need to get to be able to do the workouts…we shall see!
You should do it! While I do have a “gym” in my building, it’s pretty bare bones and I only use it for the cardio equipment, which could easily be substituted with walking, running, etc. If you have any free weights at home, you should be more or less good to go!
Ill be signing up next round, hope you are too!
I might? I haven’t made up my mind 100% yet. We shall see!
