The beginning of the end!
The fourth and final phase of this round of Best Body Bootcamp began this week, and this phase is all about power. The workouts have combined strength and cardio, and I’m a big fan of all of them.
I took it easy on the weights at the beginning of the week as my thumb still felt sore and it hurt to hold anything over five pounds (for those interested, my thumb feels a lot better right now and is finally able to function again, though it’s still a bit stiff and I’m not able to bend it as far as I can bend my other thumb. It doesn’t impact my ability to use it, but it does mean I’m not able to crack it, which, as a habitual knuckle cracker, has been driving me NUTS). It was kind of frustrating to use such light weights because I know I could’ve handled more, but I’m not particularly interested in aggravating my thumb, either. Ah well.
I hoped to get in three more bike workouts pre-indoor tri, but I ended up doing enough strength + cardio rounds of Wednesday’s workout to make that last bike unnecessary. I was also a little pressed for time on Wednesday, so that ended up being just fine. I swam 1,000 yards on Thursday for my last swim, and it was easily the best any of my swims have gone over the past month. This, of course, created a whole new set of problems, as now I’m tempted to extend my monthly membership, which expires on Sunday. Honestly, though, I know I can’t make it to the pool more than twice per week, and I know that it takes A LOT for me to work up the motivation to go swimming, so I’ll probably hold off on renewing my membership for the time being. I can see myself possibly getting back into swimming as cross training during marathon training to give my legs a break (or I can see myself spending a lot more time in the pool if hip hop gets cancelled 😦 ), but that’s a long time from now, so I’m not worrying about it too much at this point.
I should officially be an indoor triathlete by the time this posts! Yay!
