I’ve been a big fan of Tina ever since I discovered the HLB community about a year and a half ago. Tina’s [old] blog was one of the first I read, and I have a ton of respect for her.
In addition to being an all-around awesome blogger (and, at one time, being my running shoe twin), Tina is also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. As part of her professional training, Tina’s set up a really awesome program: Best Body Bootcamp. I’ve wanted to participate in Best Body Bootcamp since I first heard about it, but was always in the midst of race training — something I didn’t want to mess with. Well, my long running season is just about over, which means…
I’ve really come to enjoy strength training over the past year, but I’ll be the first one to admit I get stuck in ruts all the time. I’ll get bored, I’ll get discouraged, I’ll get lazy, and my strength training falls by the wayside. A lot of this definitely has to do with the fact that I operate much better when I’m told what to do. I’m not the best self-starter the world has ever seen, but give me an assignment and I’ll be all over it. For the next eight weeks, I’ve got fitness “assignments” to keep me on track (and/or kill me haha).
Along with fitness assignments, Tina also encourages us to set two health related goals. Since I know chances of me following through on my goals are about 23049823 higher if I post them on the Internet for the whole wide world to see rather than just keeping them to myself, here’s what I hope to accomplish
- Stretch for 5-10 minutes after every workout
- Maintain healthy habits while away from home
During my half marathon training, I really got into the habit of stretching after runs…but only after runs. I could definitely use to incorporate it into all my workouts, not just some of them. I’ve also found that while I’m good at keeping up healthy eating habits at home, I’m not so great when I’m gone. This goal by no means means that I won’t allow myself to indulge every now and again when I’m out to eat or at my parent’s house (…or on Thanksgiving 😉 ), but there’s a difference between having one of Mom’s cookies and having ten of Mom’s cookies, you know? With Thanksgiving as the obvious exception, I’d really like to work on enjoying myself in moderation instead of going all out.
So there you have it! I hope to update you all every Saturday on my weekly bootcamp progress, so stay tuned! Here’s hoping I make it out alive 😉
