1. Now, I’m not a huge TV watcher by any means, but I’ve certainly been around the metaphorical TV block once or twice in my life. Throughout my TV watching years, I have heard–and ignored, more or less–the phrase “All new episode next week at 8, 7 Central.”
Funny thing about Chicago: it’s in the Central time zone.
I turned the TV on promptly at 7:59 last night to discover that So You Think You Can Dance was already halfway over. I already missed the Top 20 reveal episode due to my lack of a converter box at the time. Oh so distressing.
Speaking of distressing, American Idol apparently rolled into town for auditions today. In a former lifetime, I would’ve SO been there. I desperately wanted to be on American Idol when I was younger. (I actually really wanted to be on American Juniors, but that’s another blog post until itself). But now I’m a “big kid” and have “responsibilities” and a “job” and a “much more realistic idea of my mediocre singing ability.” Whatever.
2. I’m going to the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony tonight, so I’ll be hanging with the likes of Gary Hall Jr., Gail Deavers, and Kristine Lilly. And by “hanging with” I mean “sitting in the audience, watching them be inducted.” But you know. Details.
It’s being taped and aired on the NBC Sports Network on August 24 at 6 p.m. CENTRAL, so feel free to look out for me then, as I’m sure I’ll be the main focus of the camera’s attention all night. Or something.
In a weird, ironic twist, this event is benefitting the one internship site that turned me down when I did my semester in Chicago. I had three internship interviews during that semester and received two internship offers, and this place was the one that didn’t like me. If they had liked me, I would’ve taken that internship over the one I actually took…and I also probably wouldn’t have a full time job right now, so I guess it all works out.
3. I went to Whole Foods for the first and last time ever last week. I spent two weeks worth of my grocery budget on one week’s worth of items, so until I start making double my current salary, I’ll stick to my beloved Trader Joe’s.
I did appreciate Whole Foods’s Ben and Jerry’s coupon, however, and bought myself a pint of Ben and Jerry’s for the first time ever. I decided to go for frozen yogurt instead of ice cream, you know, to be healthy and all.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? The more chocolate and chocolate based add-ins, the better in my opinion. Toss some peanut butter in there as well and you have a very happy Bethany.
Have you ever been to a taping of a TV show? This will be my first time, unless you count the occasional sporting event, which I don’t. I’m excited!
