1. I’m the happiest graduated English major in the world:
Do you see the price on that thing?! Thank you, Barnes and Noble! Granted, it’s no Norton Anthology (thee publisher of literature anthologies: when you hear someone talk about literature in the canon, what they mean to say is literature in Norton), but those things normally run around $75 for the shorter versions. And it’s not like this is a pansy anthology. Oh no. It’s beastly.
Over 1,000 pages of American short story goodness. American Lit just so happens to be my favorite English literature, and short stories just so happen to be my favorite kind of literature (compared to plays, poetry, literature-y novels, etc.). Seriously you guys. I’m so excited to start reading this. #nerdstatus
2. I’ve started running again! I took two weeks off after my most recent 5K because my calves had been giving me trouble for about two months at that point. I haven’t run much–about 1.5 miles on Monday and 2 on Wednesday–but it’s a lot more exciting than strength training every day. And it will be very helpful in two weeks when I begin training for my half marathon! Woo hoo!
3. I’m currently obsessed with this version of this song:
Seriously you guys. I bought it on iTunes earlier this week, and I’ve already played it 11 times. I realize for some people this may not be anything of significance, but you have to go back two years in my Purchased playlist until you find songs that I’ve consistently heard 10+ times (I’m a big shuffler on iTunes, so I don’t hear the same songs very often). I also enjoy pretending that I’m Lea Michelle and singing along. But only when I’m alone, so as to spare the innocent bystanders.
4. I normally keep these things limited to three, but since I know you’re concerned, I just wanted to let you all know that my Hunger Games obsession is still going strong. I finished Catching Fire at 2:15 this morning. You know, only the third night in a row I’ve stayed up that late reading it. Whoops. I found the middle to be kind of slow **SPOILER**where they’re going through all the Games preparation, because we’ve already been down that road once **END SPOILER** but the end! GAH. I bought the boxed set of all three books (I couldn’t help myself. And I had Christmas money.), so you know Mockingjay is up tonight. I’m thrilled and distressed all at the same time, because while I want to know what happens, I also don’t want to finish the series. Sigh.
What’s your favorite song of the moment?
I defintely agree that the middle of Catching Fire was a bit slow but oh my goodness how are those books so dang good?!?! I would totally read that series again in a hearbeat 😀
SO good! I don’t regret buying them at all like I thought I might.
Dang, what a great price on the book! My inner English Major nerds out every time I see a huge collection for such a great price. And of course, Norton is the be-all, end-all!
I’m so glad someone knows what I’m talking about! I actually thought about keeping a few of my Nortons after my classes, but since I probably wouldn’t read them later, I decided against it. My sister is an English ed major, though, so she’s kept all of her Nortons, so I guess if I ever really wanted to go back and read it again I could. But yeah, I thought it would be more wrong of me to not buy the book than buy it! Such a steal!
ahh i’m loving so many different songs right now and I listen to them repetitively, like 11 would be the song count in a day, maybe half a day. hahah its bad.
Hahaha nice! I’m always afraid that I’m going to get sick of songs, so I try to be stingy with my listening, especially when they’re new. Clearly, though, I can’t always control myself haha.
I just listened to that song and yeah, it sure is a GOOD one! I am soo glad you pointed it out Bethany, just downloaded it 🙂 And woot great price for a book, I freakin love deals
I’m glad you like it! This one’s a little older, but if you like Without You, you should totally check out the Glee version of Poker Face (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfM-tc0nxms). I don’t normally have much of an opinion on Glee version vs. original version, but I think this is 20394823094 times better than Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.
